War Veterans to premiere at One World IFF 2022

We are really thrilled that right after its completion, our feature-length documentary The War Veterans was selected for the famous One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival that will take place from March 21st till April 3rd across the Czech Republic.

The War Veterans, directed by Tomáš Polenský, will be presented in the Czech Competition. The film is a co-production between 8Heads Productions and Czech TV and follows three Czech army veterans, former members of the elite Special Operations Groups (SOG) that were fighting under the British command in Afghanistan. SOG members were the first Czech soldiers engaged in a direct fight since WW2. The film follows the protagonists' uneasy search for a place in the post-war life.

The shooting took place between the years 2013 and 2021. At the beginning, the director was looking for the answer to a question, why anyone from a peaceful place like the Czech Republic - so far away from any possible military conflicts – would go to war. Back then, our whole team was convinced that this “so far away from any possible military conflicts“ will remain like this at least for the rest of our lives.

The fact that now the whole world watches with astonishment bomb attacks on a country not so far away from the Czech Republic, makes The War Veterans even more up-to-date than ever before.
