Ján Sebechlebský

Slovak film director based in Prague, Czech Republic with a very extensive filmography. While still studying at FAMU in Prague, he shot the graduation film Haunted House (1988) and a year later the television film The Beggar's Opera (1989). He participated in the filming of the comedy series Czech Soda (1993 - 1997). His other productions include: Fiery Courtship, he also directed highly popular TV series “Ordinace v růžové zahradě“. He has made over fifty documentaries for Czech Television and in 2009 he shot the television series “First Year“. A year later, he directed the series “Kriminálka Staré Město“. He shot music videos for his friend, famous musician Miroslav "Meky" Žbirka, and he also devotes himself to theater. His long filmography includes, among   others, the Czech Television film based on Jiří Stránský's novel The Ballad of a Pilot (sold e.g. to Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Mexico and other) and the co-production fairy tale Healing Water (sold e.g. to the German speaking countries, Slovenia, Estonia, CIS countries). Ján is currently finishing the probably most financially and artistically demanding TV series Slovak TV RTVS ever produced, the 70-parts historical saga Time of Hopes.
